On the way
from Badacsony to Keszthely on the road No.71, on the
northern shore of the Lake Balaton you can spot the
classicist-style building of the Taverne from far away,
where the vineyards border on the woods. There has been
a Tavern here in the 18 th. Century already. In 1810
the Count George Festetics, the founder of the Helikon
in Keszthely - bought this croft and turned the taverne
into a pressing-house. The reconstruction works began
in 1819 according to the plans of Wilhelm Kehr. For
over a hundred years the vineyards of Diás and
Vonyarc, that belonged to the manorial estates of Keszthely,
have been administrated from here. |
